If You Build It, They Will Come (In Progress)
If You Build It, They Will Come is a series of cyanotypes that explore the connectivity between humans and nature, and the ways in which they overlap within the built environment. This series focuses on “weeds” in Philadelphia during a time of mass re-development – tracking their growth before, during, and after construction projects on “vacant” land.
If You Build It, They Will Come explores how these complex, valuable, and overlooked ecosystems define the spaces they occupy, and the way in which their story is mirrored in the resilience of people working with and against a changing city.
*A cyanotype is an blue image that is created by exposing ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide to the sun.
